Full-service internet agency Supershift 'shifts' your company into a higher gear! In 2000, during the rise of the internet, Marc Molenwijk and I started a web agency, Suburban Media. A little later we renamed the agency to Supershift.

The name “Suburban” was a reference to the Delft suburbs where we lived. We positioned ourselves as the 'common man'. Approachable, honest and friendly. We delivered quality without too much fuss.
Seriously succesful
It took some nights of sleep. We often literally saw the sun rise together. However, with ambition and perseverance we succeeded in converting the side business into a successful full-service internet agency.
It got serious. And we quit our regular job.
A whole other ball game
Looking for more opportunities to grow, we persuaded Koen Borgman to join the company as a third partner. Using his valuable network, he brought in other customers. A higher segment. In a completely different playing field. We weren't the guys who made websites from our suburban homes anymore. Suburban Media had become a real agency. With a name that no longer suited us.
Super shift
Suburban Media became Supershift. An appropriate name. Because, thanks in part to Koen's network and experience, we had shifted into top gear; resulting in larger customers and more staff. But mainly because we were able to offer customers the highest gear of their business. An ambitious name for an ambitious agency.
Creative freedom
Things were really different in 2007
Burned out
Our role in the company had clearly changed. More steering. I couldn't always meddle with the content anymore. I was burned out because of the fast pace. And not the nicest partner at home. I wanted rest. And more creative freedom. Not doing everything for just more money. I wanted making things beautiful again.
Design as a sweet topping of technology
It was mainly technical work that made the most money. Design had become the sweet topping of technology. As a Creative Director I noticed that customers had different needs. There was politics. Sometimes there were days when positivity was hard to find. I had to go.
Marc and Koen have continued and have grown Supershift into the great company it is today. With a nice dedicated team and beautiful customers.
