E-book webshop Obook – UX/UI Design
An e-book is now indispensable when it comes to books. Magento and Drupal specialist Synocom (now Youwe) asked me for a new UX/UI design for a webshop of one of its customers, oBook. The oBook e-book webshop is now offline.
Based on a supplied logo only
The oBook logo was already designed and delivered. A brand style was not (yet) defined. So based on the colors and typography from the logo I made a UX and Visual Design of the most important pages in the e-book webshop. An important challenge was the large amount of products.
Ecommerce Challenges
In recent years I have been able to design many webshops. As a Digital Designer, e-commerce really appeals to me. The complexity and the continuous challenge of converting visitors into paying customers keeps e-commerce interesting.
Built on Magento by Magento specialists
Technical specialisation gives creative freedom
The webshop is technically built on the Magento webshop framework, in which Synocom / Youwe is specialised. Their specialism in Magento, in combination with only a logo as an (online) corporate identity, gave me a lot of design freedom. And I get excited about a lot of freedom. I previously did the design of Magento webshops via Synocom. And the collaboration with these specialists was always smooth and easy.
An omniverse of books
The creative concept of the UX/UI Design was based on the unique shape (and color) in the logo. By emphasiszing the round 'O' and literally putting it 'behind the offer', a recognisable online style was developed. With more budget, the pay-off 'An omniverse of books' could have been worked out even better. But, as is often the case with UX/UI projects, time pressure (and therefore a limited budget) was an important factor in this project.
