Win a free Mr. Upside artwork?
Today I set up a low key 'Comment and Share' promotion on my Facebook Page. Not to boost sales but just for the fun of giving things away. On some level I was also curious for the amount of engagement promotions like this may generate.
Painting picknick tables at Amsterdam based restaurant Hanneke's Boom
Just a small walk away from Amsterdam Central Station, a hotspot restaurant/bar called ‘Hanneke’s Boom’ serves great, orginal organic food, beer and snacks. They contacted me last Thursday via e-mail and invited me to join a small, 'low key’ live event this Sunday, involving the painting of picknick tables.
Commissioned illustration 'Under water' by Mr. Upside was delivered at our gallery and at KPN
Today I will do the finishing touch, placing my Mr. Upside signature. Later this week I hope to be able to bring it to Amsterdam and deliver it the customer, the KPN Backoffice division. KPN is one of the largest telecommunications providers of The Netherlands.
Mr. Upside artworks on view in the Hilton Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden
We're happy to announce that eight Mr. Upside artworks are now on view in the Hilton Slussen Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. Starting from March 2nd until somewhere in April, the exhibition is part of a European tour of the Mr. Upside artworks.
Artworks now on view in our own home (popup) gallery in Voorburg
As the years went by, we realised we had been working at the offices of our clients mostly. So the space turned into an occasional art studio, messy storage room, second living room and party room. To name a few. Fun, but as the room takes up almost one third of our house, we had the idea to let the room generate some income.
KPN commissioned painting 2 ‘Alexander the Great’
In March 2015 I was commissioned a painting by KPN, one of the largest Dutch telecommunications providers. In October 2015, Peter, the Director Online who commissioned the painting, called if I was interested in making another painting.
Promotional photoshoot by Dutch photographer Reens de Graaf
In the Netherlands it is customary to pay a visit to a family with a newborn and bring a small gift. About two months ago, we became parents of a beautiful baby boy named Liam. Therefor Reens de Graaf, an acquaintance and photographer, recently paid us a visit and also brought his camera. The photo's of our family were stunning. That started me thinking, I also needed some photography of myself for promotional purposes.
Commissioned painting 'Ecosystem' for Dutch telecommunications provider KPN
In March 2015 I left the UX design project I had been working on for almost a year, to spent more time on my art. To thank the KPN ‘Mobile Sales’ department for their trust and confidence in my abilities as a designer, I bought pastries. But the very last thing I expected was to walk out the door with a commission for a painting.
Beautiful Moo Business Cards (Postcards) arrived in my mailbox today
A couple of weeks ago I already ordered the Moo Sample Pack. To test the delivery and the quality ofcourse. It exceeded my earlier expectations of the Moo.com print quality. That's why I can't help placing Moo in the same list as Apple and some high fashion brands as it comes to beautiful packaging and quality. Not to mention the enthusiastic, creative copywriting they use in all their communication.

Another experiment succeeded. Painted an egg, in my most recent ‘bold lines’-style. For sale, next to several other painted objects, on my webshop on Mrupside.com.
Hard work pays off on this KPN commissioned painting ‘Eco System’
Proud of working hard on this rainy Sunday. Almost finished this 130x170cm commissioned painting ‘Ecosystem’. for one of the largest telecommunications companies in the Netherlands, KPN.
After-work-play-time making art - Part 2
After-work-play-time, part 2 of 2. Anyone interested in a nice mural in the same style? I’d love to do a mural with these Bold Lines!
After-work-play-time making art - Part 1
After-work-play-time, part 1 of 2. The picture shows my studio and some recently finished paintings and sketches on cardboard. Anyone interested in a nice mural in the same style? :)
Black lines on canvas make up painting ‘Harbour’
Today was my day in the week that I take care of my daughter while my girlfriend is working elsewhere ('Papadag' in Dutch). And, as my daughter hasn't reached the age where she doesn't need a nap in the afternoon, I have some 'spare time' on my hands.
Painting 'Denim Blue' - Bold white lines on a rich dark blue background
Stoked about this idea. Worked it out fairly quickly, after doing the mandatory things. Acrylic paint on a 100x80cm canvas. Earlier rough sketch / inspiration on cardboard lies on the ground in front of the painting.
A proper style is in the making
Paintings ‘Denim Blue’ (left) and an early, untitled painting. Work in progress. A proper style is in the making.
Developing a new direction and style in my paintings
Some after-work quick sketches with Posca acrylic paint markers on cardboard. Will this be my new direction?
