Tarifa is a small town in the province of Cádiz, in Andalusia, Spain. It is located at the southernmost tip of mainland Spain. It is best known as one of the most popular destinations for wind sports such as kite surfing.

 
 

Mr. Upside x The Tarifa Connection

Online community
I was asked by internet agency Honderd5, based in Rotterdam, to design a logo for an online community that would connect wind and kite surfers to events, restaurants and retail locations in Tarifa, Spain. For clarity, this was in the pre-Facebook era. The online platform is currently offline.

 
 

Wordmark
From the many variations that I designed, the typographic version (word mark) was finally selected. The letter shapes are a visual reference to the kites and flags on the windy beaches of Tarifa.
