A weblog about creative product design and interior styling deserves a unique logo. A logo with a well-considered, authentic concept that does not unquestionably follow design conventions. Enough is already being copied in the world of interior design.
Passion for interior design
In 2011, my girlfriend (now the mother of our kids) Janette van Tol, converted her passion for interior design into a Dutch weblog about product design and interior styling; Stylingblog.nl.
Refrigerator
It became quite successful and received a good number of visitors every day. But, as with so many initiatives and plans, other things and projects became at least important. Until that at some point, the weblog was no longer maintained. The project disappeared in the proverbial fridge.
Wordmark
From the many variations that I designed, the typographic version (word mark) was finally selected. The letter shapes are a visual reference to the kites and flags on the windy beaches of Tarifa.
Blog on Product Design and Interior Styling
In 2015, after a lot of hard work, I finally had more time to work and decided to blow the dust off the interior blog.
As a Freelance UX / UI and Visual Designer, it was not very difficult for me to quickly redesign. I moved the blog to a the Squarespace platform, started blogging myself and added some affiliate links. The blog was quickly picked up again by fans of design, product design and interior.
Brand Identity Design
I left the logo that I made for Janette in 2011 unchanged. It was still relevant, recognisable and unique. The ‘S’ form naturally comes from the word ‘Styling’. The colourred rings around the shell emphasise the focus on looks and looks of interior design, while protecting a core of creative, authentic product design.
